I have only had cable Internet before, but that was not going to be an option where I was moving to in Houston. I basically had two choices, and I was not familiar with either one. I did an online search for dial up and satellite Internet in Houston so I could learn about both of them to see which one would be the better option for me. As soon as I started reading about the dial up option, I knew that I would not be happy with it. The only way to really make it work would be to have a second phone line, and I just can’t see justifying that expense when there are other options available.
I looked at satellite Internet next, and I was really impressed with everything that I read about it. I thought that it was going to cost a lot more because it is sometimes the only option for a lot of people, but their prices are extremely reasonable. The one thing that I was worried about was how well it would stream video, because I was also hoping to save money by not getting a television programming subscription.
I am able to watch everything like that on my computer or tablet, but it would not be very enjoyable if I had to keep waiting for the video to buffer. I looked at some forums that had people who access the Internet via satellite connections, and none of them had any problems with streaming. One is a heavy gamer and he said that he does not have any problems with that either. That was all I needed to know, and I had it installed when I moved in to my new rental house. I really cannot tell the difference between this and my old cable connection!
